But that isn't her aunt, and the other people Alice "identifies" have no connection to her either. Revisionist scholars have discovered that they are not even from the same country as Alice's relatives. Memory can play tricks I suppose.

Like Irene Zisblatt, Alice Cahana had a narrow escape from the gas chamber. Alice says she was actually inside the gas chamber waiting to be killed but was miraculously saved by a technical malfunction. She explained; "Later I found out this was the only time the gas in the crematoria did not work, possibly because of revolt in another crematorium."

For some reason Alice's miraculous escape was not included in "The Last Days," but it is described in a companion book.

Alice Lok Cahana appeared in Stephen Spielberg's Holocaust documentary film "The Last Days." The film's tagline is "Everything You're About To See Is True."
