The speaker of Britain’s House of Commons says he is strongly opposed to allow US President Donald Trump address the parliament during his planned visit to the country.
Bercow said the US president’s decree barring immigrants from certain countries has provided him strong ground for opposing Trump’s speech in the parliament. The speaker hailed Britain’s opposition to racism and sexism as well as its support for equality as important considerations. Trump is due to visit Britain later this year as the guest of Queen Elizabeth the second. However, over 1.8 million Britons have signed a petition opposing the U-S president’s state visit. The petition will be debated by British lawmakers on February 20.
