Thousands of students took to the streets of Thessaloniki to protest a law passed by the Ministry of Education, which would create a university police force for the first time since the fall of Greece's military junta. Near the end of the demonstrations, clashes between demonstrators and police occurred, cocktails and tear gas being thrown.
