TL;DR: Primarily you want to show the consequences of the bad idea and promote the good idea as the ideal. If those holding the bad idea(s) shut you out and monopolize the conversation then realize that the people who are primarily hurt by the bad ideas are the very people who hold them, and simply rid yourself of any compassion for them.
