Miklós Horthy only agreed to join the Axis Powers in 1941 for land and so Hungary can regain its former borders that were taken away from them at the Treaty of Trianon. Miklós Horthy led a national conservative government through the interwar period, banning the Hungarian Communist Party as well as the Fascist Arrow Cross Party
