Those thinking about the subject of race and racism fall into two broad categories. Some start from an ideological position; perhaps that all ethnicities are equal or that there is a so-called ‘white race’ which is superior in some way to those belonging to other racial groups. The other general category is that of race realism. Such people simply observe the world and the society around them and draw their conclusions from what they see, rather than from some abstract theory.
