In his book, "Decline Of The West", Oswald Spengler saw civilisations as being akin to living organisms, with periods of growth and decline, like seasons. We can sense that the West as we knew it seems to have reached a dead end, becoming tired and self doubting, our so-called "leaders" espousing values we can no longer believe, ones which seem absurd in the face of reality. However there is always growth amid the decay and destruction, like a seed of new life growing out of old rotting fruit. As long as there is a will to survive, something new will inevitably emerge, and replace the old. Even as cities burn, and savages run amok, others are reaching out with new vision, towards the stars.
