DAILYKENN.com -- Deputies believe 29-year-old Kano Brown picked up Kathleen Black, violently attacked her, killed her, and stuffed her body in the trunk of his car.

Brown was under arrest on three counts of sexual battery, three counts of kidnapping, and one count of aggravated battery when the body was discovered.

Reports say the discovery was made by family members after they noticed a strange odor coming from the trunk.

Brown's rape cases date back to 2016.

Black was 49 years old. The crimes against her were committed in Fort Pierce, Florida and reported May 27, 2020.

The investigation into an alleged serial rapist in Fort Pierce turned into a murder investigation.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office says investigators found the body of a woman in the trunk of the suspect's car.

Last week, authorities arrested 29-year-old Kano Brown on three counts of sexual battery, three counts of kidnapping, and one count of aggravated battery.

Sheriff Ken Mascara said the apartment complex where Brown lived asked family members to remove his car last Thursday. Relatives got the car and noticed a strange odor coming from the trunk on Sunday. They opened the trunk and found a dead body.

Sheriff Mascara says the woman has been identified as 49-year-old Kathleen Black of Fort Pierce. She was reported missing to Fort Pierce Police last week.

The body has been identified as 49-year-old Kathleen Black, reported missing last Wednesday. Police arrested Brown on the rape charges the very next day. Deputies believe Brown picked up Black, violently attacked her, killed her and stuffed her body in the trunk of his car. Now, investigators are trying to piece together a timeline on Brown and Black's whereabouts before her death.

“The autopsy of Black proved she died from injuries consistent with Brown’s violent attacks reported by other victims," Mascara said.

The sheriff's office says investigators are working with the State Attorney's Office on the best way to charge and prosecute Brown.

Mascara wants the death penalty for Brown.

The rape cases date back to 2016. With Brown behind bars, the sheriff's office made another plea Wednesday for more potential victims to come forward.
