"A life for the Czar" channel is dedicated to military and patriotic music of Historical Russia (862-1917), as well as to the music of the White Guard and the emigration, the Slavic and Orthodox musical traditions and modern Russian music, which appeals to the political and cultural ideals of the pre-revolutionary era.

The name of the channel is borrowed from the opera by Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka, dedicated to the Russian national hero Ivan Susanin and the events of the Time of Troubles, which led to the election of the Romanov dynasty to reign.
