So BLM shows up right before I start recording and takes over the Parliament stage after throwing the microphone used by the Unify Canada group, who was there doing scheduled speeches, into a bucket of water. Fairly peaceful otherwise with some occasional outbursts and shouting matches. The two camps then divided and both ended up doing speeches on alternate sides of the park. A very interesting dynamic to witness as both simultaneously made their cases to their audiences, which for me symbolized the clear lines of division in Canada & around the world. It was as if I got to witness a real life version of a Twitter brawl. In the end, I listed in to a few speeches from both sides, heard some inspiring messages as well as some frightening rhetoric, met some great people and had some very productive conversations.
