In San Diego, the CHP ordered protesters to remove their signs and flags from the fence, or they would be removed by CalTrans and thrown in the trash.

We refused, telling the CHP that we prefer THEY take down these signs and American flags on Independence Day and throw them in the trash, while we videograph the act.

We asked what law we were violating. It took some time for them to reply, but after they "phoned home," they offered that it is in violation of "California Streets and Highways Code Section 720."

This law states that they have to give you a 5-day formal legal notice to remove the "encroachment." Temporary protests signs do not exactly seem like an "encroachment" and in any case, removal was planned long before the 5-day notice. So, it is not relevant to the protest. The truth is that they, or the people motivating them, did not like the pointed political message, being displayed from an overpass.

The CHP said that we were distracting drivers and threatened to bring out the jack-booted riot squad and order the group (of mostly elderly retirees) to disperse, if traffic slowed, which it never did.

Meanwhile at a second demo in LaVerne, Ca (Orange Co.) the "police" called the group founder, Raymond Herrera, saying that holding a "carnival or a fair" on an overpass was prohibited. They were trying to classify the event so, because the protesters had brought some food along to serve to the protesters at no charge. Herrera stated that he was sure that it was a real policeman that called.

An Obama-thug showed up at the demo, saying he was from the La Verne planning commission and ordered the signs taken down. It has not been verified that he actually is a city planner, but in any case a city planner has no such authority.

A policeman showed up later and also ordered the protester to take down their signs and they complied with the police orders in La Verne.

A nation-wide protest effort has been started by James Neighbors in Oklahoma, called "Overpasses for Obama's Impeachment." You can search FaceBook for these groups to find one in your area. Also, the list of groups is posted at the link below.
