The circumstances in which Britain's then attorney general advised
that it would be lawful for the UK to invade Iraq were "far from
satisfactory", the official UK inquiry into the Iraq war has concluded.
The report, led by Sir John Chilcot, found that Lord Goldsmith relied
on a one-paragraph memo from Tony Blair himself when he issued
his controversial legal advice that a second UN Security Council
resolution authorising use of force was not required.
