πSara Stockton started at age 22 as a gender therapist dedicated to helping those with gender dysphoria. She discusses the massive shifts in the mental and physical health treatment of transgenders especially gender affirming care. Previously, it took two years before authorizing sex changes. There was a wholistic approach which included family, psychiatrists, the school, and other professionals. There were few mental health professionals. Over the last decade children no longer need parental involvement. Schools support whatever the child decides. Children come prepared to get letters for puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgeries. No longer are highly trained experts needed but any psychiatrist or mental health professional can authorize these treatments with a simple letter.
there is an agenda as the specialists no longer have a say. There has been an explosion of growth in this industry as top surgery and bottom surgery are very lucrative, mandatory covered by insurance. Many psychiatrists and surgeons are making huge amounts of money They have entire practices built around these treatments. Children are not fully informed of the permanent physical and psychological consequences.
She is calling for a change as this has become an epidemic. There have been massive increases in teenage girls identifying as non -binary Neither male or female.
There are lifelong consequences of needing to be on hormones. 100% of the patients have other mental health problems. No longer is a gender dysphoria diagnosis needed but simply the desire of the person.
