Snow in the Pyrenees mountains has been stained brown by dust blown in from the Sahara and deposited by rainfall. Footage filmed at the Grandvalira ski resort in El Tarter, Andorra, on Saturday, shows people descending a piste stained with this peculiar brown colour. In addition to Andorra, the dust from the Sahara is reported to have reached Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Aragon and Valencia. It was also observed in the south of France and Switzerland. The dust cloud was one of the most spectacular and extensive recorded in recent years, according to associations specialised in the observation of meteorological phenomena such as MeteoPirineus.
