Music released in 1941, during the time of the Brazilian New State.
The composer Alcir Pires Vermelho, said that he mentally sketched this melody, during a tram trip, between the Center and Tijuca (Rio de Janeiro). An hour earlier, he was walking on Avenida Rio Branco and, he had crossed paths with David Nasser - this moment, when Nasser handed him this lyrics and said: "Make good use of the piano!" Thus was born the samba "Canta Brasil".
Curiosity: Ary Barroso, author of "Aquarela do Brasil" threatened to sue the authors of "Canta Brasil" for "misappropriation of idea", as he thought he was musically the owner of the word "Brazil"!
