Police have no expectation to privacy in public spaces. Although they can maintain the evidentiary integrity of a scene (which was not the case here), officers have NO authority for the “we want to operate in the dark as secret police” attacks against members of the press. Police across the country are out of control, and the problem is getting only worse. How are people supposed to have any faith in these criminals?
