The Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the town of Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson region.
The blast wave damaged the market, hospital and multiple residential buildings. Many were hurt. It was said that the explosion ripped through a warehouse with ammonium nitrate.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine shelled Novaya Kakhovka with HIMARS MLRS, which Kyiv received from the United States.
A warehouse with humanitarian aid, which was located near the scene of the incident, was also damaged. Local authorities reported that about seven people were killed and 60 were injured as a result of the attack on Novaya Kakhovka. Hundreds of people are still under the rubble.
The consequences of the attack are comparable to the Beirut explosion, where ammonium nitrate exploded in 2020.
