On August 5th, The U.S. announced that they will be blocking CCP influence in five areas on what they refer to as a "Clean Network" for the US. That means the US will block the CCP in five areas: carriers, stores, apps, cloud storage, and cables.

China's state media, Xinhua, interviewed Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in response to Pompeo's "Iron Curtain Speech" of July 23rd. His attitude this time was quite moderate. He said: China will "clear the bottom line, avoid confrontation; open channels for dialogue; refuse to decouple, keep cooperation; abandon zero-sum, and share responsibility". But prior to that, the Foreign Minister's attitude was much different.
