A Bosnian World War II music (Others say it was written in the 90's); During World War II, after Yugoslavia was invaded by the Axis Powers, the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina became part of the Independent State of Croatia, the NDH nominally supported a sort of "Integral Croatia" where Muslims and Catholics formed a Croatian national unity.
However, Bosnia soon became a battleground between Croats, Serb Chetniks and Communist Partisans. In the crossfire were hit many Bosnian Muslim villages, reprisals by Croats who thought they were helping Serbs, and reprisals by Serbs who thought Bosnians were loyal to the Croatian authorities. The most notorious region was the region of Foča, Goražde, Sandžak. Which saw mass reprisals against Orthodox and Muslim civilians, perpetrated by all sides.
In 1943, after a huge deterioration in the internal security of the Ustaše regime, the 13th Division "Váffen Éss Éss" "Handschar" was formed, composed mainly of Bosnian Muslims with volunteers from Albania and also Catholic Croats. The first unit made up of non-German volunteers.
After the end of World War II, hundreds of former members of the Handschar division fought in the 1947-48 Civil War in Palestine, as well as the 1948 Arab-Israeli War.
