Analyzing the US Election Dispute - Part 2
Host: Peter

On November 25th, the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping, suddenly publicly congratulated Joe Biden on being elected US president. Now was this merely diplomatic protocol, or does Xi have an agenda?

Before, the spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs publicly stated, twice, that the reason the Party leaders did not congratulate Biden is because China "understands that the outcome of the US election will be determined in accordance with US laws and procedures."

It is very likely that Xi Jinping realized that there’s little hope of building a better relationship with Trump. If Trump is re-elected, according to the “Executive Order on Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Interference in a United States Election”, which was signed by Trump in 2018, it is anticipated that sanctions will be imposed.

Prior to this, on November 12, Trump declared yet another China-related national emergency and issued an executive order prohibiting U.S. investment in Chinese companies owned or controlled by the Chinese military. This involves 31 large Chinese companies. To some extent, it speeds up the financial decoupling process.

Many leaders feel the need to please Biden, who they believe is the future US president, by sending congratulatory messages in advance. Xi Jinping doesn't feel the need to please Biden.

In my opinion, Xi Jinping is doing so not because he was convinced that Biden had won; on the contrary, Xi found that Trump’s legal proceedings have placed tremendous pressure on Biden’s team, and that it is time to give some support to Biden and urge Biden’s group not to give up.

Many media have stated that the anti-CCP trend will not change no matter who is elected. It is the consensus of the Republicans and Democrats to be tough on the CCP. However, this may prove to be naive thinking.

The article on New York Times also lists the CCP’s peace talks, including “Washington, for its part, should ensure a level playing field for Chinese enterprises to operate in the United States.” such as “Huawei” and “TikTok”, “it is high time that the United States drop its habit of interfering in other countries’ internal affairs”; “the United States respect each other and acknowledge that the other has a different political system " " and the US should avoid challenging China on the issue of Taiwan or by meddling in the territorial disputes in the South China Sea ".

These questions are equivalent to asking Biden to overthrow Trump's China policy. Will Biden follow Xi's requirements in this regard? I think it is very possible. Not only due to the close relationship between the Biden family or the Biden team and the CCP, but also because from my point of view, the two parties share many basic concepts. For example, the concept of “build back better” or we could call it Great Reset.
